For my shoot with Larry, Mikayla, Sophia, and Ben Mersereau, they suggested we go to Griffith Quarry in Penryn, CA and it ended up being a great idea. There were plenty of trees whose leaves were just beginning to change color for the fall letting in just a hint of sunlight.
