Portrait by Michael Erkelens
I first became interested in photography when I was fifteen years old. I began bringing my point and shoot camera to local concerts. I enjoyed trying to get good quality photos with the equipment I had, a Sony Cybershot camera. When I was 16 I was first introduced to professional camera equipment when I joined the Jesuit High School yearbook staff. I learned on a Canon D60 and quickly realized how much more could be done with the right equipment and little bit of practice. I bought my own camera and started doing sports and outdoor photography as well. I started photographing more and more large concerts in early 2009 and that is when my photos started to get better and better. In summer of 2009 I decided to expand my photographic horizons even more and I started an apprenticeship with popular Roseville portrait photographer, James Hays of Enchanted Images.

I am currently a junior web engineering student at Santa Clara University, I am a web engineering intern at Adobe Systems Incorporated, I photograph events for The Santa Clara and I am the Editor in Chief of The Redwood yearbook. I also love to shoot rock stars and take portraits of people like you.

I shoot with a Pentax K20d with a battery grip and Pentax and Sigma lenses. I use Cybersync wireless triggers and a variety of speedlights. I do all of my editing on a custom built Windows 7 desktop computer with a 4 core AMD processor and 8gb DDR3 RAM. I use Photoshop Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5 and all of my photos are backed up on a WD external hard drive.

If you would like to inquire about commissioning my work, please contact me. I would love the privilege of photographing you or your event and working with you to create a piece of art.
